Upcoming Webinar to Highlight How to Avoid Account Card Mistakes
Thursday, May 23, 2013 6:55 AM

An account signature card may seem like a little thing, but it shouldn’t be treated as one. Account cards not only define the parties on an account and those parties’ rights, but also create a contract between the credit union and the cards’ account holders.

Use of the wrong card for the type of account can lead to improper handling and even litigation, so it’s important to understand all the facts on account cards. Join Mary Lou Heighes, president and co-founder of Compliance Plus, Inc. in her webinar “Account Card Mistakes & How They Affect Members” on Thursday, June 6 from 2-3:30 p.m. Central Time.

During the webinar, Heighes will answer key questions that arise on accounts for minors, businesses and fiduciary accounts, and regular consumer accounts.

The webinar will also highlight:

  • Account types available and when special account cards are needed
  • The importance of properly completing the card before the account is opened
  • Potential effects of not treating account cards like contracts
  • Help members and joint owners understand the different accounts your credit union offers based on your account cards
  • Remedies for account card mistakes
  • A Take-away toolkit with an account type guide and checklist

This session is specially designed for membership officers, new account representatives, branch managers, tellers, financial service representatives, compliance officers, and anyone responsible for opening, closing or changing ownership on accounts.
