Union Pacific of Arkansas Gets a New Name: UP Arkansas FCU
Friday, April 22, 2016 7:00 AM

UP Arkansas FCU

President/CEO Linda A. Stanton has announced that the credit union formerly known as Union Pacific of Arkansas is now UP Arkansas Federal Credit Union.

“We changed our name to UP Arkansas FCU to fully represent who we are as a credit union today," Stanton said. "Keeping the initial’s UP in the name pays homage to our past; however, we pronounce it 'up.'"

It's not the first name change for the credit union, which was originally chartered in 1933 as North Little Rock Missouri Pacific Credit Union. In 1992, they changed the name to Union Pacific of Arkansas FCU because Union Pacific Railroad merged with Missouri Pacific Railroad, or MoPac, as it was commonly known. MoPac, however, was no longer in existence in 1992, so it made sense at the time to change it, Stanton said.

The third oldest credit union in Arkansas, UP Arkansas FCU is based in North Little Rock, has $27 million in assets, and serves more than 3,500 members.

"We are here to serve the people of Arkansas, and we want our name to convey an upbeat feeling of confidence that assures them we are here for them now and in their future,” Stanton said.

This optimism about the progressive services the credit union provides shows in their logo and their motto: Up lifting our community with exceptional financial services!
