Understanding Fiduciary Duties Among Topics to be Explored at Annual Meeting & Expo
Friday, March 7, 2014 6:30 AM

Volunteers play a vital role in the credit union movement, and according to Kirk Cuevas of Dollar Associates, LLC, it’s critical that directors and volunteers fully understand their fiduciary roles within the credit union. This is especially the case in the current economic, regulatory and legal environments. Cuevas is one of many top-notch presenters at the Cornerstone Credit Union League’s Annual Meeting & Expo April 22-24 in San Antonio, Texas.

Cuevas, an attorney, credit union consultant and former NCUA Chief of Staff, will provide a complete assessment of the fiduciary duties associated with being a credit union director in his educational session, “Understanding Fiduciary Duties.” Among other things, he will cover:

  • Duty of Obedience, Care and Loyalty
  • Board Member Liability Exposure
  • Impact of Recent Changes to Part 701 of NCUA Rules and Regulations
  • Fundamental Responsibilities of Directors

This year’s conference features 24 educational sessions and three general sessions. Online registration is now available, and credit unions should register by March 23, to secure the best hotel rate and the best conference rate.

The theme for this premiere event of the year is one team…one dream, Unite for Good.
