U.S. Treasury Awards $2M to Focus Federal Credit Union
Tuesday, October 4, 2016 6:55 AM

Focus Federal Credit Union has been notified that they have been awarded a CDFI grant in the sum of $2 million dollars to help serve the underserved in the Oklahoma City metro area. Focus FCU, along with credit unions across the U.S., received a combined $185 million in Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund grants from the U.S. Treasury.

"We are thrilled to receive this grant award,” said Focus Federal Credit Union CEO Kyle Roush. “Many Oklahoma City area families are experiencing financial hardships due to the economy and need help getting back on their feet but are finding it difficult to get fair credit. The grant funds will increase our capacity to offer affordable loans to the people who need them the most, in communities plagued by predatory lenders. In short, this allows Focus to continue its mission of helping people achieve their financial goals with many more supporting resources."

“Focus is the only Oklahoma credit union to receive funding this year,” said Lisa Adamiak, CFO/CPA at Focus FCU. “This grant will allow us to increase our work in financial education and outreach to those in Oklahoma who may not otherwise have access to those services. We know that our unique products coupled with financial education will help to create informed consumers who are set-up for long-term financial success. We hope to make a huge impact on the economically distressed areas we serve.”
