Two Arkansas CUs Announce Intent to Merge
Tuesday, February 18, 2014 6:40 AM

Miller County Teachers FCU and Mil-Way FCU, both of Texarkana, Ark., have announced their intent to merge. On Jan. 28, the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) granted consent to proceed with the membership vote required of the Miller County Teachers FCU members to approve the merger process.  On Feb. 6, during a special called meeting, the Miller County Teachers FCU membership voted in favor to support the merger.

Once the vote is recorded along with submitting additional required documents to NCUA, Miller County Teachers FCU will transfer its assets and liabilities to Mil-Way FCU.  The continuing credit union of Mil-Way FCU will have assets in excess of $110 million with the addition of approximately 1,400 members.

This merger provides the members of Miller County Teachers FCU with additional products and services such as checking, debit cards, online and mobile account access, individual retirement accounts, health savings accounts and more.  The credit union says the membership will continue to see a familiar face, as January Bennett will continue her work as a teller at Mil-Way FCU.  Rena Kirvin, the 35 year tenured Miller County Teachers FCU CEO, will retire.
