Tom Hodge

Tom Hodge, a 26-year employee of the Cornerstone Credit Union League, passed away Dec. 1, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Dec. 4, at 2 p.m., at the Tennison Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 313 N. Church Street in Mt. Pleasant, TX  75455, 903-572-5341.

“Tom had been battling cancer for the last five years. He fought hard till the end,” a saddened Dick Ensweiler, CEO of the Cornerstone Credit Union League, noted.

During his long-time tenure with Cornerstone, Hodge held many positions, with his most recent position being senior vice president of strategic business.

“There are a lot of stories about Tom, but what really stands out for me is the excellent rapport he had with credit unions,” added Ensweiler. “That rapport was earned. Tom being Tom, credit union leaders knew that Tom was someone who always ‘shot straight.’ There was no color coating.”

“We will miss him greatly,” continued Ensweiler.

Hodge joined the League in 1987 as a consultant in the West Texas area where he was named Consultant of the Year on three separate occasions.  He was promoted to director of Consulting Services in 1994 and moved to Dallas to assume supervision of the League Consultants.  In 1997, Hodge graduated from the League Management Institute – a school dedicated to the certification of future League executives.

Hodge graduated from Texas Tech University in 1979, and spent more than 30 years in the financial industry.  His expertise in the fields of lending, credit union operations, marketing, and strategic long range planning was well known throughout the state.

Hodge was an Eagle Scout - an award he was most proud of.
