Tippets Shares Story of Perseverance & Overcoming Adversity at Upcoming Conference
Monday, June 24, 2013 9:15 AM

American Airlines FCU retired president and CEO John Tippets will address credit union leaders at the Cornerstone Credit Union League Leadership Conference Sept. 4-7. Author of the book, “Hearts of Courage,” Tippets will share his insight on how to persevere through challenges and difficult times.

Tippets dedicated some 17 years to the members of American Airlines FCU. Under his leadership, the credit union grew from $1.0 Billion to $5.0 Billion over that period serving members worldwide and with branches from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Honolulu, Hawaii. Tippets retired from the credit union in 2008.

Hearts of Courage brings to life the amazing true account of the 1943 Gillam plane crash in the wilderness of southeast Alaska. The harrowing events that followed required tremendous courage, enormous ingenuity, perseverance and many small miracles.

The 2013 Leadership Conference kicks off with the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation Golf Tournament Sept. 4. Conference registration will also begin Sept. 4. The conference is being held Sept. 5-7 in San Antonio. To learn more about the conference or to register, please visit
