Tinker FCU Employees Graduate from CU Management Programs
Monday, August 15, 2016 6:50 AM

Four Tinker Federal Credit Union employees recently graduated from two credit union management programs, CUNA Management School (CMS) in Madison, Wis., and Southwest CUNA Management School (SCMS) in Fort Worth, Texas.

Amanda Nichols graduated on July 21 from the CMS; and the three July 20 graduates from SCMS are Preston Mechling, Heather Stith, and Kasey Wasserleben. To date, 26 TFCU employees have completed the three-year programs.

CMS and SCMS are the longest-running high-level education programs for management or professional-level employees interested in credit union leadership positions. Held for two weeks in July, each delves into topics such as the philosophy and corporate culture of the credit union movement, executive relationships, business ethics, entrepreneurial skills, and many more topics that help participants grow as leaders in the industry.

Graduation requirements for students include assigned reading, testing, networking with other credit union professionals, classroom study, an in-depth written analysis, a five-year projection for their credit union and an oral presentation of a project or strategic plan.

“We are very proud of what our graduates have accomplished,” TFCU President and CEO Michael Kloiber said. “TFCU actively encourages our employees to become leaders in the workplace and beyond. CMS/SCMS is a fantastic opportunity for them to grow professionally and personally, as well as expand their knowledge of management functions essential to a credit union’s success.”

Oklahoma City-based Tinker Federal Credit Union is the largest credit union in Oklahoma, with $3.5 billion in assets and more than 332,000 members.
