Timberline FCU Celebrates 'Military May' and Donates to AR Vets
Friday, May 1, 2015 6:40 AM

Throughout the month of May, Timberline Federal Credit Union in Arkansas will celebrate, remember, and honor American veterans.

Ramping up to Memorial Day, members and non-members will be able to purchase a paper flag cutout for $1. They will be able to write the name of a current, past, or deceased soldier's name on it, and the flags will be displayed in the credit union's branches. Timberline will match the donations received, dollar for dollar.

All of the money raised will be donated to ARVets. ARVets' mission is to enhance the overall quality of life for military personnel, veterans, and their families by improving access to resources and strengthening support systems through all phases of the military life cycle. ARVets proactively offers more innovative ideas and methods to deliver services and focuses on a grassroots case-management approach.

Also during May, the credit union will offer free instant-issue debit cards imprinted with an American Flag. For every card printed, the credit union will also donate $1 to AR Vets.

Then on May 22, the credit union plans to have a celebration in memory of fallen soldiers at their main branch. The credit union will raise the American flag, take a moment of silence to remember the fallen and suffering, as well as provide food. During the event, Timberline will also present a check in the amount of funds raised to the AR Vets.

As a reminder, this year Memorial Day falls on Monday, May 25.
