The United States House of Representatives and the Senate are back in Washington after the week-long Independence Day district work period. As usual, Credit Union National Association is following several committee hearings on both sides of the Capitol including the following:

Wednesday

  • The House Financial Services Committee Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit will hold a hearing entitled, "Examining the Designation and Regulation of Bank Holding Company SIFIs."
  • The Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing on "The Role of the Financial Stability Board in the U.S. Regulatory Framework."
  • The Senate Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism will hold a hearing entitled, "Cyber Crime:  Modernizing our Legal Framework for the Information Age."
  • The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a full committee hearing entitled, "Going Dark:  Encryption, Technology and the Balance between Public Safety and Privacy."
  • The House Small Business Committee will hold a hearing entitled, "The Calm Before the Storm:  Oversight of SBA's Disaster Loan Program."

Thursday

  • The House Financial Services Committee will hold a full committee hearing entitled, "The Dodd-Frank Act Five Years Later:  Are We More Stable?"
  • The House Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law will hold a hearing on the "Financial Institution Bankruptcy Act of 2015."

Friday

  • The House Financial Services Committee Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance will hold a hearing entitled, "The Future of Housing in America: Oversight of HUD's Public and Indian Housing Programs."
