TFCU Employee Receives Junior Achievement’s Crystal Apple Award
Wednesday, September 7, 2016 6:55 AM

Oklahoma City's Tinker Federal Credit Union employee Giovanni Monterroso was awarded the Junior Achievement Crystal Apple Award for his dedication to teaching students about financial education.

Junior Achievement provides volunteer-delivered programs that foster work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy skills. Apple Awards are given annually to individuals based on the number of students they have reached through the Junior Achievement curriculum as a volunteer.

Monterroso, a financial educator with TFCU, has been volunteering with Junior Achievement since 2012. The Crystal Apple award is the third and highest level of the Junior Achievement Apple awards, given to volunteers after they have reached more than 750 students. So far since becoming a volunteer, Monterroso has reached more than 800 students in grades K-12.

“Volunteering for Junior Achievement has been a rewarding experience because I feel I am making a difference in the lives of those students, but also because those same students have impacted my life in ways I cannot describe,” Monterroso said. “I am grateful that TFCU partners with Junior Achievement, allowing employees to spend time in the classroom making a positive impact.”

Tinker Federal Credit Union is the largest credit union in Oklahoma, with $3.5 billion in assets and more than 332,000 members.
