Texas Senate Passes Bill Requiring DMV to Provide Electronic Forms
Friday, April 28, 2017 6:40 AM

By unanimous vote, the Senate passed SB 1062 by Sen. Charles Perry (R-Lubbock), which requires the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to provide electronic forms for odometer readings, a secure power of attorney form and a secure reassignment form for licensed motor vehicle dealers.

This bill would benefit credit unions by permitting the use of electronic power of attorney (POA) forms tied to odometer disclosure requirements.

HB 1693 by Rep. Dean (R-Longview), companion bill to SB 1062, was voted favorably from the House Transportation Committee. The Texas Credit Union Association supports both the Senate and House bills.
