Texas Senate Clarifies Law for Transfer on Death of Real Estate
Friday, April 21, 2017 6:40 AM

In 2015, Texas enacted a law that allowed real property to pass to a designated beneficiary upon the owner’s death. SB 2150 by Sen. Joan Huffman (R-Houston) addresses the need for clarification in cases where the designated beneficiary predeceases the property owner.

The Transfer on Death form is amended to simplify the process and to layout the options available to the transferor so their intentions are made clear.

The bill was approved by the full Senate and moves to the House for consideration.
