Texas CU Commission Announces Appointment of New Commissioner

John KolhoffThe Credit Union Commission of Texas has announced the selection of John J. Kolhoff as the Texas Credit Union Commissioner, effective Dec. 3, 2018. Kolhoff replaces Harold E. Feeney, who will be retiring from public service at the end of December.

“The Cornerstone Credit Union League welcomes Mr. Kolhoff to the Texas Credit Union Department and offers our support to him as the new commissioner," said Cornerstone President/CEO Caroline Willard. "He has a wealth of experience in the credit union industry, and we look forward to working with him.”

Kolhoff is currently special deputy director with the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services. He has been with this Department since 1994. As director of the office of credit unions, Kolhoff is responsible for the safety and soundness supervision of 138 credit unions with approximately $50 billion in aggregate assets. He received his undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University.

Kolhoff is an active member of the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS), currently serving as chairman of the organization. He has also served as a state representative on Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council’s (FFIEC) Information Sharing Task Force.

When sworn in, Kolhoff will be the 6th credit union commissioner in the agency's 49-year history.
