Texas Credit Union Commission to Meet Friday, March 10
Wednesday, March 8, 2017 6:55 AM

The Texas Credit Union Commission will meet this Friday, March 10, at 9 a.m. at their offices at 914 E. Anderson Lane in Austin.

The Commission will consider proposed changes to the procedures for petitioning for adoption or amendment of rules. The Texas Credit Union Department believes that 7 TAC Section 97.104 should be updated and relocated to Subchapter F of 7 TAC, Chapter 97, a new subchapter, for better transparency and ease of reference.

The new subchapter, named "Rulemaking," would have two new rules that describe procedures for petitions that initiate rulemaking proceedings and hearings on proposed rules.

The Commission will also consider amendments concerning the frequency of examination, clarifying that credit unions must be examined at least once in a 12-month period, and providing authority for the TCUD to extend the intervals to 18 months without prior written approval of the Commission.

Other matters to be covered are legislative issues in the current session that may impact the TCUD or credit unions under its jurisdiction, review of the status of the state credit union system, assumptions, and parameters used in developing the TCUD's FY 2018 budget, commemoration of credit union milestones, and the retirement of Richard L. Ensweiler, president and CEO of the Cornerstone Credit Union League.
