Texas Congressman Randy Neugebauer Announces Retirement
Friday, September 18, 2015 6:55 AM

Congressman Randy Neugebauer (R-Lubbock) announced that he will retire after his current term expires on Thursday, Sept. 17.  Serving District 19 since 2003, he sits on the Financial Services Committee, Agriculture Committee, and the Science, Space, and Technology Committee.

Earlier this year, Neugebauer filed H.R. 2205, the Data Security Act of 2015, which would establish a process for companies of all sizes to follow in order to secure consumer data.  He is chairman of the Financial Institutions Subcommittee of the House Financial Services Committee.

"After much thought and prayer, I have decided not to seek reelection in 2016. This was a difficult decision, but I feel this is a good time to end this season of my life and move to another. While I am announcing that I will not seek reelection, I am not retiring from the important work that lies ahead. There are still 15 months left in this Congress, and I am committed to continue to work tirelessly on your behalf until the final gavel ends this Congress and another individual takes that special oath in January of 2017... As I have on many occasions, I want to end by saying, May God bless you and may He continue to bless the United States of America."
