Telco Plus Credit Union Wins Top Honors For Most Money Raised For March Of Dimes
Wednesday, May 8, 2013 6:20 AM

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the March for Babies fundraiser for the March of Dimes, Longview-based Telco Plus Credit Union jumped in with both feet.

Led by Telco Plus President and CEO Betty DeWeese, who served as the 2013 East Texas Walk Chair, the Telco Plus team worked not only on raising money, but also on coordinating the actual event.

“This is the fifth year that Telco Plus has been involved with the March for Babies, but the first year we were fortunate enough to be involved in the logistics of it,” sid Michelle Muckelroy, vice president of operations for Telco Plus. The March for Babies Walk took place Saturday, May 4 in Longview.

Telco Plus raised more than $5,000 for the March of Dimes and were awarded “Top Company Team” (under 50 employees) for raising the most money.

In addition, with the sponsorship of DeWeese and her husband, Jimmy, the East Texas Walk was introduced for the first time to the Memory Mile, a memorial that included the names of the babies who have been lost. It is a permanent memorial that will be displayed at all future walks to allow grieving families to honor their lost children at no cost.
