Team of 24 visit Tanzania

During the month of August, Development Educator (DE) John Vardallas and Tony Robinson sent a team of 24 credit union leaders and guests from across the U.S. to Arusha, Tanzania, for the Educruise Africa Safari, hosted by the Credit Union Educruises organization.

Duncan Njiri, CSP, CUDE, CCUE, is part of the Kenyan Credit Union Movement and Manager of Majanees SACCO Ltd. He was the keynote speaker and provided an overview of African credit union

history and operations, as well as differences and similarities with credit unions around the world. Njiri is also a 2012 graduate of the Southwest CUNA Management School.

The conference was a continuing education program for credit union leaders to broaden their understanding of the international credit union movement. By the end of the session, Njiri said, "We realized that domestic issues are indeed global."

After the conference, credit union leaders and guests visited the Serengeti National Park where they enjoyed the African scenery and wildlife.
