TCUF Hosting ‘Train the Trainer’ Session May 23
Tuesday, April 16, 2013 6:20 AM

As part of the Foundation FOCUS financial literacy campaign, the Texas Credit Union Foundation (TCUF) is offering a free “train the trainer” session May 23 in Austin.  This one-day interactive and hands on training program is open to credit union staff, teachers, and community partners, interested in teaching or distributing the National Endowment for Financial Education High School Financial Planning Program (NEFE HSFPP) and/or BizKid$.

TCUF Executive Director Courtney Moran will present the “train the trainer” sessions, and Randolph-Brooks FCU will host the event at its 11911 Burnett Road location.  These outstanding curricula are approved by the Texas Education Agency for use in Texas classrooms.

BizKid$ is a financial literacy initiative that includes an award winning TV series, free classroom curriculum, outreach activities, a website and a monthly online newsletter targeting children 9-16 years old.

Revised in 2012, the NEFE HSFPP is a turnkey financial literacy program specifically focused on basic personal finance skills that are relevant to the lives of pre-teens, teens, and young adults. Organized into six module topics (planning, borrowing, earning capability, investing, financial services, and insurance), the program includes six topical Student Guides, an assortment of 45-minute teacher lesson plans, and a growing collection of online resources and learning activities.

Credit unions can register for the May 23 “train the trainer” session, as well as find a list of upcoming sessions online, at http://www.tcuf.coop/NEFE_High_School_Financial_Planning_Program.html.
