TCCU Tree of Life Helps Seniors Celebrate Christmas
Friday, December 2, 2016 7:00 AM

People tend to make Christmas about the little ones, but there are also many seniors asking Santa to bring the most basic life necessities. To ensure Christmas wish lists are taken care of for elderly victims of abuse, neglect, or exploitation, the Tree of Life shines brightly at Texoma Community Credit Union.

For ten years, the credit union has partnered with Adult Protective Services for the campaign. The public can participate, or play Santa, by going to the credit union's locations on Sheppard Access Road or Southwest Parkway to grab an ornament, which has info describing the need, and then head out to purchase a gift for the senior.

Many of the requests are for simple things like underwear or toothpaste, things most often take for granted. And for many seniors, the gifts they receive through this annual campaign will be the only ones they get this season.

"For them it is important, because they don't have the money to go out and buy some of those basics, such as toiletries or basic clothing garments, so yes it is very huge to them," said TCCU President/CEO Wayne Mansur. "They are so excited when they get those gifts from adult protective services."

If you want to help an elderly person in the Texoma community, gifts need to be returned in an unsealed gift bag by Dec. 16. If you're not a shopper, you can also make a monetary gift to the Tree of Life campaign and someone else will grab the items for you. The account number is 16576.

For more information, contact Texoma Community Credit Union on Sheppard Access Road at 940-851-4000 or at the Southwest Parkway location at 940-851-4081.
