TCCU Spreads Christmas Joy to Sam Rosen and Webb Elementary Students

Tarrant County's CU Christmas Party

The staff of Tarrant County’s Credit Union eagerly anticipates spreading joy and happiness every year. This year on Dec. 5 and Dec. 12, the TCCU staff members, along with others in the Fort Worth Chapter of Credit Unions, gave back to the local community by hosting Christmas parties for two elementary schools in Tarrant County: Sam Rosen Elementary School and Webb Elementary School.

The Texas Tribune reports that these schools educate students of families that are 90.4 percent economically disadvantaged.

“The need is great in these two schools, and for one day the credit union employees give back something some that these kids may not see much of—joy,” said TCCU VP of Operations Shelli McCoy. “We are told over and over that the children look forward to this one day all year long, and for those credit union employees who volunteer, some year after year say, 'Us, too!'”

Students in kindergarten through 5th grade enjoyed fun holiday games, face painting, and prizes. The students also met and posed for a picture with Santa Claus. Faculty at each school was provided with lunch and Christmas treats on behalf of the participating credit unions. The event concluded with goodie bags for all the students.

The late Raymond Shands, board member of the Fort Worth Chapter of Credit Unions, established the Sam Rosen Elementary Christmas Party 27 years ago. Tarrant County’s Credit Union has been involved with the event for the past 15 years, joining efforts with other credit union staff to spread hope and joy as part of this holiday tradition.

The Christmas parties are events that the students and faculty look forward to each year during the holidays. Tarrant County’s Credit Union enjoys serving the community in this and other ways throughout the year.
