Breakout Session #7

Loan Participations - Pitfalls and Potential
Jeff Hamilton, Catalyst Corporate FCU

Just as there are two sides to every story, there are two sides to loan participations as well; the risk and the reward. Both buyers and sellers can benefit from a loan participation transaction, however, realizing the benefits is dependent on understanding what and where some of the risks are. This session will address the potential pitfalls that buyers and sellers need to be aware of, and by doing so can ensure success in realizing their potential benefit. The loan participation transaction connects buyers and sellers in a long term relationship. With an understanding of the two sides of the transaction to help avoid some of the pitfalls, attendees can navigate through loan participations successfully and realize the benefits.
