Still Time to Register for TCUL’s Bankruptcy and Collections Seminars
Tuesday, March 19, 2013 4:00 AM

The Texas Credit Union League (TCUL) is holding its Bankruptcy and Collections seminars May 1-2 in San Antonio.  San Antonio FCU (SACU) will host the seminars at its 6061 W Interstate 10 location.  Online registration is available at http://www.tcul.coop/bankruptcy_collections_seminars.html.

Presented by well-known attorneys Charles Williams and Mike Blalack of Blalack & Williams, attendees will learn practical and proactive strategies to help them maximize recovery and minimize loss and risk.

The Bankruptcy seminar is presented by Williams, who will focus on bankruptcy essentials for the new credit union bankruptcy officer.  He will also address current and emerging problems for credit unions in the bankruptcy courts.

Automatic stay issues involving post-petition repossessions, payroll deductions, credit reporting, and other unintentional violations are costing credit unions millions across the country.  Williams will address these issues and others at the Bankruptcy seminar.

In the Collections seminar, Blalack will cover all of the key legal issues impacting delinquent vehicle loans, repossessions, and the disposition of collateral.

Credit union collectors must know the law and comply in order to avoid potential liability for their credit union as a result of wrongful repossession. Collectors of all experience levels will benefit from this practical look at the legal issues surrounding credit union repossessions.
