Stay Updated on 'Logical' (Jackpot) Attacks on ATMs in the U.S.
Tuesday, February 6, 2018 6:40 AM

The U.S. Secret Service has released information detailing a new means of robbing ATMs known as jackpotting and is warning banks across the country. The method is performed just like it sounds. Malware is injected into the machine, forcing it to spit out 40 bills every 23 seconds. These are black-box attacks that cause jackpotting. Logical attacks are an industry-wide issue.

This should be treated as a call to action to take appropriate steps to protect your ATMs against these forms of attack and mitigate any consequences.

Don't be a victim of ATM attacks.

FTSI is hosting a security webinar on Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. CT (9 a.m. PST) that will focus on safeguarding against ATM vulnerabilities. Topics will range from skimming attacks to opportunistic software upgrades, as well as the latest threats to the physical security of your ATMs. Each presenter will offer a short but densely packed presentation on the issues facing ATM operators in their field.
