South Plains Shred Day

The South Plains chapter of credit unions hosted a community Shred Day last weekend in the United Supermarket parking lot. The event was free to the community, but donations were accepted. The chapter raised $3,735 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. At the end of the day, the credit union staff and members shredded more than 13,000 pounds of paper.

Ramping up to the Shred Day, the event was featured on KAMC’s Make-A-Wish news segment and radio spots were aired the week prior on Awesome 98. The event was broadcasted live over the radio as well.

Staff from seven different credit unions in the Lubbock area assisted at the event. Credit union volunteers also prepared and distributed 100 bags of giveaway goodies.

Said Anne Marie Wright, president of Caprock Santa Fe Credit Union, "Everyone represented the credit unions well. It was good to see all of the staff with their own logos working together. I think the exposure for Credit Unions was great. Perfect Day."
