Small CUs' Success Stories Highlighted in New NCUA Video
Friday, February 14, 2014 6:50 AM

The National Credit Union Administration today released a new video, “Small Credit Unions + Service = Success,” describing the positive impact small credit unions can have on their communities.

“Small credit unions are so important to their members and their communities,” NCUA Board Chairman Debbie Matz said. “They’re helping people build a measure of financial security and obtain credit in order to purchase homes or pay for college educations. In some communities, they are the only affordable, insured financial institution available. This video tells the stories of three credit unions in particular, and they are examples of the work being done all over the country that exemplifies the credit union mission.”

The new seven-minute video, available online here, highlights how three credit unions—Desert Communities FCU, Community Promise FCU and Northern Eagle FCU—identified needs within their communities and stepped in with needed financial services for their members and potential members.

Economic Development Specialists in NCUA’s Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives assisted these credit unions to maximize the benefit they provide to their members and communities.

NCUA’s OSCUI fosters credit union development and the effective delivery of financial services for small, new, and low-income designated credit unions. More information about OSCUI’s services is available online here.
