Sixteen CUs in Cornerstone Region Earn Recognition for Outreach to Youth, Members & Community

The Cornerstone Credit Union League recognized 16 credit unions in its region for their outreach to youth, members and the community at its Leadership Conference & Expo last week in San Antonio. The credit unions competed in the national award program, which includes the:

  • Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service
  • Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Member Service
  • Desjardins Youth Financial Education
  • Desjardins Adult Financial Education

The Dora Maxwell recognizes credit unions for community outreach programs, while the Louise Herring honors credit unions for the practical application for the movement’s “people helping people” philosophy within the credit union. The Desjardins awards recognize credit unions’ efforts to improve financial literacy among youth and adults.

This year’s winners include:

Dora Maxwell:

First Place Awards:

  • Neches FCU, $200-$500 million in assets
  • FAA CU, $500 million-$1billion in assets
  • Smart Financial CU, $500 million-$1 billion in assets
  • Security Service FCU, $1 billion+ in assets
  • Tinker FCU, $1 billion

Honorable Mention:

  • River Valley Community FCU, $20-$50 million in assets
  • First Family FCU, $50-$100 million in assets
  • Rio Grande Valley CU, $50-$100 million in assets
  • InTouch CU, $500 million-$1 billion in assets
  • Randolph-Brooks FCU, $1 billion+ in assets

Louise Herring:

First Place Awards:

  • FAA CU, $250 million-$1 billion in assets
  • Tinker FCU, $1 billion+ in assets

Desjardins Youth:

First Place Awards:

  • Generations FCU, $150 - $500 million in assets
  • InTouch CU, more than $500 million in assets

Second Place Awards:

  • Security Service FCU, more than $500 million in assets

Desjardins Adult:

Second Place Awards:

  • Tinker FCU, more than $500 million in assets

All first place winners have advanced to the Credit Union National Association for the national competition.
