Over the past 18 years, Shamrock Federal Credit Union has awarded more than $150,000 in scholarships to credit union members pursuing a post-secondary education. This year, the five-member scholarship committee selected six recipients out of 36 applicants to receive scholarships ranging from $2,750 to $1,400.

The scholarship recipients will attend schools throughout Texas and Oklahoma. Judging was based on length of credit union membership, number of credit union services utilized, academic achievement, leadership, and character.

Credit union members are eligible to apply for a scholarship if they are full-time students pursuing an education at a university, college, junior college, trade, or vocational school. Each application is scored anonymously, based on predetermined criteria.

The board of directors believes this is a positive way to inspire and reward the hard work and dedication of student members.
