SSFCU Top Workplace Staff
Security Service Federal Credit Union staff receive the Top Workplace award at a luncheon October 23 in San Antonio: (Back row, left to right) Jay Gable, assistant vice president; Charles Goss, executive vice president/chief lending officer; Jim Laffoon, president and chief executive officer; Tom Martin, senior vice president; and Gerry Smith, assistant vice president; and (front row, left to right) Denise Staudt, senior human resources manager; Michelle Scott, vice president; and Brandy Ralston-Lint, vice president.

For the fourth year in a row, Security Service Federal Credit Union employees have voted the organization into a spot in the top ten San Antonio workplaces, as researched by WorkplaceDynamics. Released annually by the San Antonio Express-News, this prestigious list is comprised of only a handful of companies and organizations that have set themselves apart as the city’s top employers. SSFCU took fifth place—the second year the credit union has ranked in the top five.

The San Antonio Top Workplaces list was determined solely by feedback gathered through an objective employee survey. The survey data showed that employees most want to work at companies with high levels of organizational health. Companies that set a clear direction for their future, execute well, and bring real meaning to work are the healthiest.

“We’ve worked hard on developing an employee experience that is reflective of the value we place on our team. We want them to know their work every day—in big and small ways—is meaningful and appreciated,” says Jim Laffoon, Security Service president and chief executive officer. “It means the most to me that this award is based on their input about their experiences here at work.”

Earlier this summer, SSFCU rolled out new employee benefits that include a confidential advisor to help navigate personal challenges; reduced rates and fees on select Security Service financial products; tools and resources to help employees reach physical goals; and legal and financial help, among other benefits, focused on creating a better work/life balance.
