Secure Your Seat at the 2015 Member Business Lending Boot Camp
Thursday, December 11, 2014 6:50 AM

After the New Year, it will be time to shape up! And what better way than a boot camp? Not a fitness boot camp, but a Member Business Lending Boot Camp

The Cornerstone Credit Union League, Louisiana Credit Union League, and the Mountain West Credit Union Association, in collaboration with Hipereon, Inc., are offering a five-session MBL Boot Camp beginning March 2-6, at Cornerstone’s headquarters in Farmers Branch, Texas.

Successful completion of the program provides individuals with a set of certified skill sets to perform as junior commercial lending officers. Highly interactive sessions cover:

  • Mastering accounting principles
  • Mastering tax returns
  • Analyzing business financial statements
  • Analyzing projections
  • Assessing risk-credit memorandums

The MBL Boot Camp is built around understanding the business model structure. The series starts by ensuring students are structurally familiar with all of the financial statements they will utilize to complete the financial analysis of a business. Throughout the series, students progress to greater levels of analysis to measure the performance of a business.

Students will be encouraged to take what they learn, "thinking on their feet," to build confidence in their grasp of the member business lending process—much like pilots learning to fly in a simulator. All students take an active role in classroom learning. Throughout the exercises, students have opportunities to explain their actions, practicing their writing and speaking skills.

The MBL Boot Camp is demanding by design, yet facilitated in a fun and energetic atmosphere. The instructors constantly encourage and challenge students to grow their knowledge and skills, leading to a measurable impact on their business banking expertise.

The MBL Boot Camp is divided into five sessions, plus the review and exam:

  • Week 1                              March 2-6
  • Week 2                              April 20-24
  • Week 3                              June 1-5
  • Week 4                              July 20-24
  • Week 5                              August 17-21
  • Review & Exam                September 30-October 2

Your investment of time and money could yield your credit union a tremendous return. If participation in the MBL Boot Camp saves your credit union one bad MBL loan (at an average of $242,000), you could pay for 40 participants! So why not send one or two people to learn from the best? Your sustainable competitive advantage is having expert facilitators who can help your people prevent costly mistakes.

To maximize the learning experience, seating is limited, so please reserve your place early. For more information or to register, please visit our website.
