Every year, the San Angelo Chapter of Credit Unions conducts a non-perishable food drive for their local food banks. Last year, the chapter donated 247 pounds of food to Rust Street Ministries. This year, the chapter donated 357 pounds of food to the Concho Valley Regional Food Bank.

San Angelo Chapter President Laura Whisenhunt said, "We have a good chapter team! All of the officers are willing to lend a helping hand and give back to those less fortunate. Need knows no season."

She went on to say that everyone participated in their own way. Various credit union staff, members, and volunteers all helped donate non-perishable goods for the annual food drive. "When members saw the box in our credit Union lobby," she said, "they were willing to participate and brought canned goods also. The staff from the Concho Valley Regional Food Bank said they were very thankful for our generous donation."

Whisenhunt, who is also president of San Angelo Federal Credit Union, noted that with our philosophy of People Helping People, credit unions can make a real difference. "In the spirit of Thanksgiving," she said, "it is very rewarding to make a difference to help others have a complete Thanksgiving meal."
