SACU Donates to Children’s Advocacy Center of Comal County
Wednesday, June 12, 2013 5:00 AM

The San Antonio FCU (SACU) Board of Directors donated $1,000 to support the Children’s Advocacy Center of Comal County, a United Way agency. In recognition, SACU has an engraved granite block set in the PAVE It FORWARD walkway, a fundraiser for the agency’s capital campaign.

Ramon Abarca, SACU Board member and New Braunfels resident, SACU 3009 Branch employees Shannon Davila and Irma Sotello and SACU Business Development representative Courtney Lee toured the facility. The SACU Branch, located at 6050 FM 3009 in Schertz, also serves Comal County.

Experts estimate that one in 4 girls and one in 6 boys will be sexually abused before they turn 18, but only one in 10 will tell. Every year, advocacy centers provide more than 40,000 Texas children a safe, child-friendly environment to tell what happened to them. The Children’s Advocacy Center of Comal County provides these services, including an on-site examination room in a comfortable, child-friendly environment.

“The SACU Board of Directors, on behalf of our credit union membership, is proud to support this agency’s invaluable work in Comal County. There is no greater mission than to encourage prevention as well as the detection, investigation and treatment of child abuse,” Abarca said.
