Sabine Chapter auction

The Sabine Chapter of Credit Unions held its annual bake auction for the benefit of the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation, raising more than $1,900 on Aug. 3. The evening proved to be a fun and collaborative way of raising funds for the Foundation.

Kristen McCauley, treasurer of the chapter, highlighted the chapter’s commitment to the Foundation. She emphasized the tremendous impact the Foundation has had not only in the broader community by providing financial awareness, but also the impact within the credit union community by providing individual credit unions with much-needed scholarships for professional development, financial education, and disaster relief for credit union staff.

“Each year the Sabine Chapter Board discusses how we can help the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation and we always agree that our dessert auction continues to be successful," said McCauley. "We changed it from a live auction to a silent auction this year and held it at our largest chapter meeting of the year, the crawfish boil. With over 500 people in attendance, we were able to raise $1,935 for the Foundation. The Sabine Chapter appreciates all of the hard work the Foundation does, and we will continue to support them in the years to come.”

Every dollar counts when it comes to supporting the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation, and each credit union showed their support.

Staci Zale, Foundation development director, expressed her gratitude. “It is not about who outbids whom or who wins the best homemade dessert," Zale said. "It’s about sharing in the fun and taking pride in the fact that they’re raising money for a worthy cause. The energy created by the Sabine Chapter of Credit Unions, who came together for the purpose of supporting the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation. We’re thrilled to receive their donation, and it will assist us in making our mission possible.”
