Collections Training

The recently completed 84th Texas Legislative Session produced a number of new legislative changes that will impact credit union collections. This fast-paced Collections Training seminar will:

  • Provide practical compliance advice for collectors regarding the latest Telephone Consumer Protection Act regulation and rule changes.
  • Address more examples of real-life scenarios credit union collectors may face as a result of emerging debtor tactics.
  • Provide practical advice on how a collector should respond to these tactics.

Bankruptcy Training

Member bankruptcies continue to challenge credit unions in complying with the Bankruptcy Code while aggressively asserting their rights. This year credit unions will need to become familiar with the Official Bankruptcy Forms which were recently replaced with significantly revised and reformatted versions.

Credit unions, and credit union bankruptcy specialists, can maximize the credit union's return on its collateral and recovery of bankruptcy losses with a firm grasp on the credit union's rights under the Bankruptcy Code. Significantly, recent bankruptcy cases and important rules impact the credit union operationally when a member files bankruptcy.

The Bankruptcy Training seminar will be an in depth examination of credit union best practices when a member bankruptcy notice arrives, including examples focusing on:

  • Texas Chapter 13 member bankruptcies.
  • Proof of claim procedures.
  • Reaffirmation advice.
  • Automatic stay counsel in both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases.
  • And many more issues critical to credit unions.
