Recording of CUNA’s Small-Dollar Proposal Webinar Online
Friday, July 8, 2016 6:45 AM

If you missed it, don't worry. A recording of Credit Union National Association’s free webinar on the potential effects of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s proposed rulemaking on payday, vehicle title, and certain high-cost installment loans is now available for members.

The July 6 webinar ran for approximately 65 minutes and was attended by nearly 500 people.

The CFPB released the proposal June 2, and CUNA is concerned that the proposal could sweep in consumer-friendly credit union products and restrict consumer access to credit.

The discussion focused on:

  • A summary of the proposal;
  • How it could affect credit unions;
  • Insights into various provisions within the proposal;
  • How credit unions can participate in the rulemaking process to minimize the impact on credit unions; and
  • Strategies for preparing for the upcoming rule.

CUNA presenters included Elizabeth Eurgubian, deputy chief advocacy officer, and senior directors of advocacy Leah Dempsey, Luke Martone, and Andy Price.

The recording features the audio from CUNA presenters, as well as downloadable handouts on the rule itself. It will be available, with registration, for one year.

Comments on the proposal can be submitted to CUNA before Aug. 31, and are due to the CFPB by Sept. 14.
