Elder Financial Abuse and Exploitation

Hosted by: REAL Solutions

We are excited to offer a FREE new webinar training session for your credit union staff. This “lunch and learn” event is planned for Thursday, November 21, 2013, and will focus on the hot topic of Elder Financial Abuse and Exploitation. The webinar starts at 12:00 noon and features Cathy Brorson, C.U.D.E., Outreach Coordinator from Kipsap Credit Union in Bremerton, Washington.

As you are aware, elder financial abuse and exploitation is an escalating problem. A 2012 survey found that 7.3 million older Americans (one in 5 of those over age 65) have been victims of financial theft. The seemingly unlikely perpetrators include caregivers, friends, neighbors, and even family members of the senior. Credit unions can play a critical role in helping to reduce financial abuse and exploitation. Therefore, it’s essential that your personnel are able to identify potential cases and understand what steps to take when fraud is suspected. This webinar offers key insights that credit union staff can really use.
