Friday, May 30, 2014 6:25 AM

Randolph-Brooks FCU (RBFCU) is expanding into the Dallas area. RBFCU, the second largest credit union in Texas has served the San Antonio and Austin for more than 60 years, and is now planning to build three branches in Plano, Frisco and Allen. The branches are expected to open by the end of the year.

“When looking at opportunities for expansion in our home state, it made sense to target the greater Dallas area with an entry point concentrating in the fast-growing Collin County area,” RBFCU president and CEO Christopher O’Connor tells the Dallas Business Journal.

The credit union has seen substantial growth, swelling to 450,000 members over the past five years. Its new North Texas branches are just the beginning of a five-year plan to continue building branches in the area and create jobs.

“We are planning to have four full-service branches up and running within the first six months of opening our initial location and will look at opportunities to expand beyond that,” O’Connor tells Dallas Business Journal readers. “We will add around 40 new jobs at the new branch locations upon opening, and to bring more than 100 jobs to the area in the next several years through branch growth and administrative employees as well.”

RBFCU is based in Live Oak, near San Antonio, and has assets of more than $5.9 billion. It operates 45 branches in the state
