Principles & Philosophy Conference Will Give Attendees Strong Foundation for Rest of their CU Career, Ensweiler Says
Friday, December 6, 2013 6:40 AM

Dick Ensweiler, president and CEO of the Cornerstone Credit Union League, says he thought he knew pretty much everything he needed to know about working in the credit union movement. He was a passionate credit union educator, a champion for the cause of bringing financial opportunities to people from all walks of life, and he took every opportunity to spread the “people helping people” philosophy. And then he participated in the Credit Union Development Educator program.

“How humbling it was during that weeklong educational excursion to realize there was so much I had not considered. So much more I could be doing. So much more to be discovered. The DE program was not only enlightening, but also inspiring,” said Ensweiler.

Cornerstone-affiliated credit union leaders will have that same opportunity to be inspired and enlightened Feb. 10-12, 2014, when Cornerstone offers for the first-time ever a Principles & Philosophy Conference. Featuring certified CUDE certified instructors Lois Kitsch and Larry Blanchard, this two-day program offers an opportunity for credit union leaders to expand their knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of credit union principles and philosophy.

The duo will explore the history and role of credit unions in the marketplace, the value of cooperative philosophies, and why credit unions are different.

“I’m confident that the knowledge credit union professionals and volunteers will gain from this two day conference will give them a strong foundation for the rest of their credit union career,” added Ensweiler.

Additional information on the Principles & Philosophy Conference can be found in the Education section of Cornerstone’s website. Those interested in attending should register by Jan. 10 to secure the early bird registration rate of $749 per person. Please note that two night’s stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Dallas is included in your registration, and Cornerstone will make your reservation for you as part of your registration.
