Participating in Financial Fitness Day? Cornerstone CU Foundation Wants to Know
Tuesday, March 17, 2015 6:50 AM

National Financial Literacy Month kicks-off April 1, and credit unions have the opportunity to participate in a Financial Fitness Day fundraiser. Financial Fitness Day may fall on April Fool’s Day, but financial education is no joke.  Financial education is a critical focus of many credit unions’ outreach efforts in order to improve the financial well-being of their members and community. We hope your organization will hold a fundraiser such as a casual day on April 1st to support these activities across the country.

This initiative will raise funds for the National Credit Union Foundation and the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation. The Cornerstone Foundation is asking credit unions in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas to notify them if they plan to participate, as the Cornerstone Foundation wants to track and promote those credit unions.

Financial Fitness Day is an opportunity to bring awareness to the importance of having the knowledge and skills to make sound financial decisions. To participate, credit unions can hold either a jeans/casual day for staff; a bake sale, "donate a buck" day, and/or come up with their own creative idea to celebrate Financial Fitness Day.

If your credit union is participating, please notify Cornerstone CU Foundation Executive Director Courtney Moran. If you have any questions, please contact the Foundation at (800) 953-8283.

Credit unions can learn more about Financial Fitness Day, by visiting financialfitnessday.com. Included on the website are other campaign resources such as additional fundraising ideas, sample newsletter articles, sign-up sheets, stickers, flyer, statement stuffer, wall pin-up templates, sample tweets, web buttons, and more.
