Payment history, amounts owed, length of credit history, new credit, and types of credit in use are the five biggest things that affect your credit score, unfortunately, many consumers simply do not understand how their credit score impacts their ability to obtain affordable credit. Additionally, a recent survey by Vantagescore finds that only one out of 10 people understands the explanation as for why they were denied credit. Credit unions can help clear up any confusion members might have by attending the Cornerstone Credit Union League’s Comprehensive Lending 101 Seminar July 29 in Little Rock, Ark.

Presented by Galli Davis, this one-day seminar covers not only the five influential factors of a credit score, but more importantly how to discuss credit truths with members. Davis will also cover essential interview skills and applicable underwriting methods that will assist staff in making more loans while mitigating risk, including how to increase C, D and E paper loans while controlling delinquency.

Proper notes and documentation will be discussed as Davis incorporates a few loan workshop scenarios that will put attendee’s skills to the test. Attendees can also expect Davis to discuss collateral loan structure and auto loan recapture through cross-selling and best practice programs including how to cancel dealer products, and wrap up with focus on ancillary productivity and its role in credit unions today.

This July 29 seminar is a must attend for presidents/CEOs/managers, lending professionals,  and any other credit union staff exposed to lending in general would benefit from this seminar.
