One Third of Americans Have Never Checked Their Credit Report; Nearly 70 Percent Have Little to No Understanding of Credit Scoring Reveals TransUnion Study
Friday, November 1, 2013 7:00 AM

As children eagerly wait for trick-or-treating this Halloween and look forward to haunted houses, ghosts and goblins, TransUnion finds many adults may be spooked as well -- by their credit.

According to a recent TransUnion survey, 32.7 percent of Americans surveyed said they have never checked their credit report or credit score. Another 24.6 percent surveyed said they had not checked credit report or credit score in the last year.

TransUnion also finds that many Americans do not understand how credit scoring works or that there are many credit scoring models. Nearly 27 percent of survey participants said they have little to no understanding of the different credit scoring models available to them. Only 16 percent of survey participants said they had a great understanding of the different credit scoring models.
