Oklahoma House Releases List of Interim Studies
Wednesday, June 21, 2017 6:50 AM

The Oklahoma House of Representatives has released a list of interim studies requested by members. Among them is one requested on behalf of Oklahoma credit unions, which will explore the issue of perfecting liens on high-dollar livestock trailers. The request was filed by State Rep. Stephen Vaughn.

A second credit union interim study has been introduced in the Senate. Although senate requests have not been formally introduced yet, Sen. Dan Newberry has asked for one to study the issue of data security.

"Interim studies aren’t as high profile as the legislative session, but they play important role in the process," said Nate Webb, president of the Oklahoma Credit Union Association. "Since Oklahoma works on a two-year legislative cycle, interim studies give members time to gather testimony from expert witnesses and talk to various stakeholders. The information gathered t these studies is often the foundation for legislation filed the coming year."

The list released by the House this week is comprised of requests only. The final list of studies approved by leadership is expected in the coming days. The studies requested in the Senate are also expected to be released soon.
