Oklahoma Chapter Holds Holiday Mixer and Charity Fundraiser
Friday, December 16, 2016 6:55 AM

Oklahoma Chapter of Credit Unions speaker Crystal Young addresses credit unions during holiday mixer and fundraiser.

The Greater Oklahoma Chapter of Credit Unions recently held its holiday mixer and charity fundraiser. Harvest Foster Kids’ Camp was selected as the beneficiary of this event.

“We selected Harvest Foster Kids’ Camp because of the great work they do in our area," said Greater Oklahoma Chapter President Lisa Adamiak. "The camp offers children in foster care the opportunity to attend a summer camp and have life experiences that they might miss out on by being in the foster care system.

"In addition, one of our own chapter members, Crystal Young, with Enterprise Car Sales has a personal connection to the camp. After serving as a camp counselor, Crystal and her husband made the choice to begin fostering and ended up adopting two kids that they met through the camp. We were very excited to have Crystal and her daughter attend and share their story.”

The chapter, credit unions, and individuals collectively raised $2,800 at the event, enough to send eight kids to summer camp.

“The Greater Oklahoma Chapter is proud to help with such a great cause and is blessed to have members who opened their wallets to make this happen," said Adamiak. "This illustrates the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people.’ The chapter has a long-standing tradition of hosting a local charity each Christmas season as part of its efforts to enhance the visibility of credit unions in the community. We love giving back and spreading the credit union message."
