Friday, May 2, 2014 6:35 AM

Tulsa-based Oklahoma Central CU has contributed $8,000 to local and national charities after deploying a referral program and donating ticket proceeds from its 73rd Annual Meeting.

Spread the Word, Share the Benefits is a checking account referral program in which the new member, existing member, and one of four charities all receive $25. Oklahoma Central CU has made $3,000 in charitable contributions to The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis, John 3:16 Mission, Family & Children’s Services and Domestic Violence Intervention Services in the first quarter.

The credit union also held its 73rd Annual Meeting & Concert with the Josh Abbott Band earlier this month and donated all ticket proceeds to two children’s hospitals. The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis, a Children’s Miracle Network hospital, received $2,500 and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, located in Memphis, received the remaining $2,500.

“We are pleased that these two initiatives have provided us with an opportunity to give back to the community through charities that make such a huge difference in the lives of so many,” said Gina Wilson, president and CEO. “These contributions will go to work to improve the lives of children and families in not only the Tulsa area, but also many others across the country. The entire Oklahoma Central family is honored to help out these outstanding organizations.”
