Monday, December 15, 2014 6:35 AM

The Office of the Inspector General U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Semiannual Report to Congress is available now.

This report, for the period of April 1-Sept. 30, 2014, summarizes the results of the agency's oversight, provides statistical information, and lists all reports issued during the period. As required by law, the report is intended to keep the Secretary and the Congress fully and currently informed of significant findings and recommendations by the Office of Inspector General.

This new report shows that the OIG's audits, investigations, inspections, evaluations, and other reviews identified more than $839 million in funds put to better use and nearly $24 million in collections. The agency issued 104 reports on HUD programs and operations, and their investigations led to 184 arrests.

The Inspector General Act of 1978 (Public Law 095-452), as amended, requires the Inspector General to report semiannually to the head of the Department and the Congress on the activities of the office during the 6-month periods ending March 31 and Sept. 30.
