Nussle to CUs: Senate in Session during GAC; Please Be Here!
Tuesday, December 2, 2014 6:50 AM

While the U.S. House of Representatives will not be in session during the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference, March 8-12, the U.S. Senate will be. Jim Nussle, president/CEO of Credit Union National Association said that credit unions attending the conference can and should be planning to meet with their senators while in town.

"The House will not be in session, but credit unions can and should still plan to meet with House staff members," Nussle said. "As a former House member myself, I can tell you: These meetings are very productive."

Nussle also says, CUNA is building a line-up of top speakers, including Arianna Huffington and Gen. Stanley McChrystal, USA (Ret.). Huffington, a media and business leader, will discuss the "third metric," which encompasses many of the values that drive credit unions. Gen. McChrystal, a four-star general, former commander of U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan, and former leader of Joint Special Operations Command, will share lessons based on his experience leading and innovating one of the world's largest organizations.

Credit unions will also hear from influential legislators, regulators, political experts, and credit union leaders about trends that affect your credit union.

"You'll be able to identify new strategies for building and maintaining America's awareness and trust," Nussle says. "You can network with your fellow credit union leaders; you may attend timely educational sessions focusing on the hot issues within the movement; and you can tour the largest vendor showcase in the financial services industry."
