NCUA's Matz to Testify before House Subcommittee on FIs and Consumer Credit
Wednesday, July 15, 2015 6:40 AM

The CU Times is reporting that National Credit Union Administration Chair Debbie Matz will testify before the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit. The hearing, scheduled for Friday, July 24, will focus on the NCUA's budget and other oversight issues.

The financial institutions subcommittee is chaired by Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-TX). Wm. Lacy Clay (D-MO) is the committee's minority party ranking member.

The hearing will come the day after the next NCUA monthly board meeting, which is expected to include on its agenda the agency's mid-year budget adjustment.

“NAFCU appreciates the subcommittee holding this important hearing.  Any opportunity for robust debate and to shine a light on important credit union issues is extremely positive,” NAFCU President/CEO Dan Berger said in a prepared statement. “We look forward to Chairman Matz's testimony. While NAFCU and our members do not always agree with NCUA, we share the goal of keeping all federally insured credit unions strong.”
