Musician Daria Musk Gives Facebook Concert to Raise Money for CUs
Wednesday, September 13, 2017 6:55 AM

On Monday evening, credit union advocate and musician Daria Musk performed live on Facebook in a special fundraiser for those affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

The live online concert was intended to help communities rebuild and credit unions get back in business, and people all over the country responded by commenting, liking, and sharing the video. Musk sang songs with themes of encouragement and love. The video Monday evening received 9,400 views and 36 shares, and it's still garnering views.

"In the wake of this devastating hurricane and flooding, we're experimenting with new ways to raise funds for disaster relief," said Cornerstone Credit Union League President/CEO Caroline Willard. "We wanted to expand our reach, so we called in a favor from this talented singer/songwriter, who has an authentic affection for credit unions and agreed to put out a call for donations to help them rebuild. About 36 hours after her live performance, her message has been viewed 11,400 times. This shows the power of social media in building our collective community."

Roughly 6,000 credit union employees were impacted by Hurricane Harvey. You can still donate to CUAid and the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation, which directly support credit unions, their staff, and boards.
