Money Smart Week Underway Now
Monday, April 20, 2015 6:35 AM

Credit unions nationwide have started celebrating Money Smart Week, a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. The campaign, which runs through April 25, is spearheaded by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and was created to provide free financial education to people of all ages and walks of life.

The campaign also coordinates with National Credit Union Youth Month, sponsored by CUNA, which is celebrated throughout the month of April. The month-long celebration provides credit unions with an opportunity to connect and convey to their members the importance of financial education at a young age.

Hundreds of Michigan organizations—including credit unions—are hosting free Money Smart Week events, including facilitating a variety of workshops for all ages on topics ranging from building a basic budget to managing personal assets. The workshops are free and open to the public.

Dozens of communities across Wisconsin and Iowa will also celebrate Money Smart Week as well, with hundreds of events focused on improving the personal financial awareness of state citizens.

How will you celebrate Money Smart Week?
