On Valentine's Day, Members First Credit Union held a fundraiser for Purple Heart Homes, the national public charity supporting older veterans and their caregivers.

The credit union held a bake sale at each of their four locations in Corpus Christi and Harlingen, Texas. They sold home-baked goodies, popcorn, and drinks, along with stuffed animals.

This fundraiser was their third in the last year for Purple Heart Homes. The first event included T-shirt sales with the Purple Heart Homes logo, and the second was a taco fundraiser.

Members First CU and Purple Heart homes"These events are well received by our members because many of them are veterans, and to all of us the veterans hold a special place in our hearts," said Members First Credit Union Vice President and COO Wanda Muessel.

Last year, as part of its Credit Unions Care initiative, Cornerstone was honored to work with Purple Heart Homes: Operation Veteran Home Renovation to help disabled veterans who served our country and safeguarded the freedoms we enjoy. Cornerstone sponsored two vets, providing upgrades to their homes to make their lives easier.
